Verified is an AI-powered identity verification SaaS that lets fintechs, crypto exchanges, and marketplaces onboard users in under 30 seconds. It combines OCR-based document parsing, liveness detection, and sanctions screening into a single embeddable flow — replacing manual review queues with an automated decision engine that stays within GDPR, AML, and SOC 2 boundaries.
The Problem We Solved
Fintech startups and crypto platforms faced a brutal tradeoff: manual KYC review was accurate but took 24–72 hours and required a growing ops team, while automated solutions were fast but had rejection rates above 15% and couldn't handle non-standard ID documents from emerging markets. Regulators were tightening AML requirements, and every hour of onboarding delay was measurably hurting activation rates — one client estimated they were losing 22% of signups at the verification step.
What We Built
We built Verified as an embeddable SDK and standalone web flow. The verification pipeline runs in three stages: document capture (with real-time guidance to reduce blur and glare), OCR extraction via a fine-tuned FastAPI model that handles passports, national IDs, and driving licences from 190+ countries, and liveness detection using AWS Rekognition to prevent spoofing with photos or videos. Sanctions screening runs in parallel against OFAC, EU, and UN watchlists. The decision engine weighs all signals and returns a pass/fail with a confidence score in under 30 seconds. Every step is logged to an immutable audit trail stored in PostgreSQL, exportable for regulator requests. Clients embed the flow in 15 minutes via a JavaScript SDK or REST API.
